Renee McGinnis: the whole world in one artist

It's hard to believe that a woman, even if she is an artist, is able to draw in detail and accurately such intimidating warships and sea accidents. Moreover, her paintings are forced for a long time and gaze intently into the smallest details. Many, once luxurious, ocean liners on her canvases are slowly dying, showing cracked bodies and corroded metal panels.

Renee McGinnis grew up on a real farm in central Illinois. Her thesis, in which she conducted research in the field of sociology and anthropology, Renee defended at the University of Chicago. Apparently the reflection of this knowledge is in her paintings. She often talks about the vain attempts of man to dominate the world and the inexorable dominion of nature over all that exists. But most of all, according to the artist herself, the formation of her personality was influenced by the absence of a TV in the house. The old one broke down, but the new father decided not to buy. So it happened that Renee grew up surrounded by encyclopedias and filings of the magazines "National Geographic" ..

At the beginning, Renee McGinnis's shows were held in Chicago, then exhibited in Washington, New York and Baltimore. Later, victorious walking around the world began - her canvases were seen in Australia and Germany. She successfully dared for so many styles that the show of her works could easily be mistaken for a joint exhibition of several different artists. One canvas, for example, depicts a human figure with a transparent skin beneath which the muscular fibers shine. The other picture shows an allegorical landscape - playful and strange. Animals and landscapes, battles and disasters. Looking at her work begins to seem that the whole world has gathered in one artist, more than that - showed himself with his help by all the facets of his existence.

Ray Hendershot: Stop yesterday

Ray Hendershot reminded the world of the charm of the pastoral landscape. In addition, he created with the help of his works the feeling of the past time - not lost youth, but pre-civilization times. His paintings will soon become historical bearers, telling about the peasant way of life in Pansylvania of the second half of the past century. Although the artist himself states that he pursued very different goals when creating them.

The subject of his paintings were not farm buildings and abandoned mills, but the texture of the surfaces of the collapsing buildings. Stone walls are dematerialized very individually, unlike the erection, especially in modern architecture of mass use. No less interesting are the withered wooden splits and glare of the world on ceramics, which has been worn away from years of exploitation. With the help of watercolors, the technique of the willful and disobedient, Ray Hendershot (Ray Hendershot) was able to reflect the aging of the materials in the smallest details. He wrote about this a whole scientific treatise called "Technical texture with the help of watercolors" and published it back in 1999.

An interesting mood attends after getting to know the work of this American artist. There is no sense of the frailty of the world, although thoughts on this matter come after the fact. And first in the shower there is a feeling of a warm summer day, clean air, a measured life in which a neighbor's hen, wandering into someone else's yard, becomes a big event. Nostalgia for this time there - what's the use of regretting and wasting time. But the desire to be in the circle of such worries arises. A man always draws to his own origins, so there is nothing to be surprised.

Mike Svob on nature with the power of color

He is a professional artist who not only received an academic education, but also visited apprentices from such legendary Canadian aqualists as Allan Edwards. It is not known how much training would continue, but by the will of fate Mike Svob moved to live in British Columbia, instantly fell in love with her nature and, literally, received his sight as an artist - both in creating a style and in his own vision of the world.

Mike Svob completely devoted himself to painting. Flawlessly, he mastered three techniques: acrylic, oil and watercolor, and, in the end, chose the first. He never tried to adhere to a certain artistic stream, but colleagues - artists and critics - art critics unanimously identified him in the Impressionists. Ordinary viewers are surprised at the unreal reflection of colors on the canvases created by his hand. And Mike Svob, in turn, admits that he deliberately deviated from the surrounding reality. It is because she feels it, and still very fond of playing bright colors.

It seems that all of his paintings are in love with what they depict, and they try to convey this feeling to the viewer. Literally, they exaggerate details, emphasize their brightness of colors and clarity of boundaries. Often, artists achieve such a resemblance to reality that they transmit it, achieving the effect of photography. Mike Szab goes the opposite way: he wants the picture to show that he was written with a human hand. Therefore, often the image created by him resembles a ripple on the water - but very bright and colored.
