Jan Wijnants (Dutch landscape painter born about 1635-1684)
spent his early years in Haarlem. Most of his paintings are landscape near this goroda.On specializes in landscapes with dunes and sandy roads, inspired by the countryside around Haarlem - unpretentious, naturalistic performances, which were favorites among collectors in the 17th and 18th centuries. He may have been the son of an art dealer. Wijnants married in Amsterdam in December 1660, and remained there until his death. He sometimes works on a very small scale panel, and the image of this type is widely accepted among collectors.
Wijnants was prolific, and his work is in many public collections.
